Join us for a special series of dining events that will fund Phase 1 of the Capital Campaign to access land, secure staffing and operating expenses and equipment for the Anahuac Farm & Cultural Center.
Each Indigenous Cuisine Experience will offer guests a warm sensation of stepping into la cocina tradicional, a traditional kitchen, in a pueblo of one our Indigenous communities. We welcome you into our Anahuac outdoor traditional kitchen where food is cooked with open fire, Indigenous languages are spoken and learned and traditional culinary art practices are used to give life to our rich Indigenous ancestral gastronomy.
Each dining experience showcases delicious meals based on traditional recipes that have been passed down through generations from our various Indigenous communities of Mexico. Our most honored and sacred foods are main staples of these meals including corn, beans, squash, tomatoes, chiles, avocados and cacao.
Our meal on May 20th will feature Indigenous cuisine prepared by Indigenous Mixtec women in our community whose hearts, oral histories and hands all contribute to making a profound, memorable cultural gastronomical experience for our guests. While savoring the flavors our ancestors, learn about the cultural history of the meal and enjoy listening to a live music performance.
Seating is limited, so get your tickets now. Pricing is sliding scale $75-250 per seat or $1000 for a table of eight.
After your meal is finished, enjoy taking a walk into the Capaces Leadership Institute salón grande for an educational experience of our three staple foods, corns beans and squash as well as a short documentary viewing of the work of Capaces Leadership Institute and Anahuac. An information and merchandise table will also be set up to learn more about our Capital Campaign with opportunity to sign up for tours of the land we are in the process of accessing.
